The Church enjoins us to confess our sins at least once a year. Whether you have been away from the sacrament for many years or only a few weeks, take time to prepare by prayerfully reflecting on your thoughts, words and actions since your last confession. Eucharistic Adoration is a pious practice of praying before the Eucharist exposed in the monstrance. This time of prayer can be very peaceful and help one to grow in love of Jesus. St. John Vianney always shared the description of prayer given to him by a poor farmer, “I look at Jesus and He looks at me.” You are welcome to visit and pray for any length of time.
Since the very beginning of the Church, Christians made pilgrimage to Jerusalem to retrace the final steps of Jesus Christ to Calvary. Over time the faithful began including images of the pilgrimage inside their churches in order to make the pilgrimage from a distance. Everyone is highly encouraged to attend this beautiful time of prayer and meditation whether in a group setting or individually.
The seven penitential psalms allow us to express sorrow for sin, reflect on our need for God's mercy and ask for forgiveness. Consider praying with a different psalm each week of Lent.
