If you have shopped around to many Christian Churches, you’ll notice that Catholic worship is a little different. We have times of praise and worship, and get excited for Jesus like anyone! But, our Sunday worship is called the Mass. The Mass is centered on the belief that, on the night Jesus was betrayed (before taken into custody), He celebrated a special meal with his Apostles, His closest followers and turned bread and wine into His body and Blood in a mysterious way. He told them, “do this in memory of me.” Since the beginning of the church, it is believed that He gave the Apostles this same power. This power has been handed on through the centuries to every priest and bishop. So, on Sunday we receive the body and blood of Jesus.
