The new Sacred Heart Parish Library online catalog gives parishioners the ability to search the library's holdings and check out materials through an online account. Don't want to remember another username? Materials can also be signed out using the paper form in the library.
To request an online account, go to the library home page, scroll down to the Patron Accounts section, and submit your information via the Google Form. Registration is not automatic, so please allow time for the librarian to set up your account.
To log in to your account, select the icon of a person in the menu bar at the top of the screen. After signing in, you will be able to see what items you currently have checked out and their due dates, as well as information about previously borrowed materials.
Use the basic search bar on the library home page or patron account page to find items by title, author, keyword, and even media type (audiobook, CD, DVD, etc.)
Search results are listed according to relevancy by default, but can be sorted by other fields.
To access the Advanced Search function, click the black drop-down arrow on the right side of the basic search bar. Multiple fields can be selected for a more refined search.
The "Limit By" feature includes the option to limit search results to a specific Collection (section). If no other search terms are entered, searching by Collection will bring up a list of all the books in that section.
Because items may be checked out via the paper form, the status displayed in the online catalog may be inaccurate (i.e., a book listed as "Available" may not be on the shelf). The librarian will work to keep the catalog updated with items signed out manually, but a delay is inevitable. Also, checking it out online while away from the Sacred Heart campus could lose out to someone standing in the library at the same moment.
To check out an item online, click the green Check Out button on the item's search result or detail page.
Note: The loan period is 30 days (one month), with renewals available. A reminder about an upcoming due date will be automatically generated three days before the date for materials checked out online.
To check out an item offline, fill out the requested information on the form in the library.
